Another sunny day in Paris
So once again I wandered the street of Paris... along the banks of the Seine...
past Notre Dame
And then to the Louvre to see the Venus de Milo - I'm not sure how I managed to actually get a photo without anyone in it as this place was packed!
and the Mona Lisa
This is as close as they let you get to her. I still got her number though. ;)
The Louvre is huge! I spent 3 hours there and saw maybe half of the galleries... but by that time all of the old paintings were starting to look the same to me - oh another naked lady feeding grapes to a young child with wings, riding what appears to be a goat.
It was starting to get late in the afternoon so I headed off to climb up the Eiffel Tower (via the stairs)
and enjoy the view
and sunset
Eiffel Tower all lit up at night
At this point I was getting hungry so I headed to the Arc de Triumphe and found a place to eat on the Champs d'Elysees before catching the metro back to the hostel
I caught the night train to Pau (in the foothills of the Pyrenees) which is where I am now. I've got to shop for hiking food and find some fuel for my stove somewhere before I head up into the mountains tomorrow... if the weather is good. It's a little cloudy and gloomy today... so we'll see.
I'll keep you posted.
